OUR MESSAGE FOR TODAY’S SUNDAY SERVICE ON MAY 10, 2015 IS MATTHEW 5:1-29: GODS GOODNESS AND GLORY IN US AS SALT & LIGHT OF THE WORLD:

OUR MESSAGE FOR TODAY’S SUNDAY SERVICE ON MAY 10, 2015 IS MATTHEW 5:1-29: GODS GOODNESS AND GLORY IN US AS SALT & LIGHT OF THE WORLD:DEDICATED TO ALL MOTHERS ON THIS 2015 MOTHERS DAY. 1. I want to begin this message by highlighting the importance of Gods Goodness and Glory that empowers you to be on the mountain from time to time to get revelation knowledge from God to teach the saints given to you by God and to shepherd them. Jesus proved this to his disciples on the Sermon on the Mount, where he revealed everything about the journey of life, Gods glory and your walk with God and humanity on the Beatitudes. See verses 1-2 2. The beatitudes were words of Gods glory and Goodness to empower all believers to be who God has created us to be, and also to know that Good times and bad times has nothing to do with what God has prepared for you, because they are but Seasons and the come and go. Your life situation today can turn to Gods glory tomorrow as follows: a.) Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. b.) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. c.) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. d.) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. e.) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. f.) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. g.) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. h.) Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. i.) Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. See verses 3-12 3. Jesus took his teaching to another level when he told the disciples and the crowd present that they are:- a) The are the salt of the earth b) But what of if that salt looses its taste it has no value or use again c) You are the light of the world, a town built on a hill that is visible d) Your light should shine wherever you go to glorify your father (God) e) Your light shines with your good deeds (which is the goodness of God in you) through humanitarian works and services to God See verses 13-16 4. I want to stress the importance of the law to you and its fulfilment in your life with your family; I have noticed that so many believers do not understand the importance of the law, nor have adequate knowledge of it. To possess your possessions through the Goodness of God that will turn you into a celebrity, you must teach this word about the kingdom of God and practice what you teach. Many Christians misinterprets the Bible by thinking that Jesus came to abolish the law because of his teaching about love, but he came to fulfil the law. Get this knowledge and walk in Gods glory, because Jesus proved it on the cross of Calvary. He did not come to abolish the law, because the law will always be there to guide us. He showed us Gods Goodness and Glory. See verses 17-20 4. Be informed that the Old Testament is still the law of God which was given to Moses for us; some folks are carried away like the old testament is not the law of God but only the New Testament. I tell you this day that the Ten Commandments are the laws of God for us. I am referencing here “Thou shall not commit murder or kill”; Many of us think it is only when we use gun, poison or knife to kill that is when we have committed murder, here you are wrong again, anything through your act of wickedness, foolishness, laxity, stupidity etc that caused another persons life is murder and you will face murder judgement before God. Be warned, settle disputes as quickly as possible and walk in the love of God at all times and not hatred. See verses 21-26 5. Like I mentioned earlier there is no law that is too big or too small, when you err in one you err in all. Take for example “Thou shall not commit Adultery”, it does not mean when you sleep with another person’s wife or husband only, but it also include looking at him/her lustfully. I advise you to walk in righteousness and holiness so that your eyes or body will not lead you to hell fire. See verse 27 6. Finally statistics has proved that most Christians take so many things for granted, and some of these things we take for granted leads us to sin which is “separation from God” and we allow ourselves to be carried away by the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life, which I will be highlighting the consequences as follows below: a) If you divorce your wife or husband you make them to commit adultery and if you do not give them divorce certificate, anyone who keeps them in the house or marries them commits adultery b) Do not make an oath you cannot fulfil c) Do not swear by heaven, earth, or anything d) Learn to say “YES” or “NO” in all matters and that is it, to be free e) Anything short from the listed above that will make you to do otherwise is from the devil to rob you of your possessions in God and hinder you from the kingdom of God. See verses 28-29 6. My prayer for you today is to receive the Anointing power to walk Gods Goodness and to ask him to show you his glory in Jesus name Amen. Read below: Matthew 5:1-29 New International Version (NIV) Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount 5 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them. The Beatitudes He said: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Salt and Light 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. The Fulfillment of the Law 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Murder 21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a]and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. 23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. 25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny. Adultery 27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
